Rushlake Green Village Leaf

Mid-June Green Shoots

Dream on

We managed to snap this sneak preview of the Village Players, in rehearsal on the Green. Preparations for Midsummer Night's Dream on the Green are going well and tickets have been selling at a phenomenal rate. In fact pre-booked tickets for performances on Friday and Saturday have already sold out. However, we understand that there are still tickets for Thursday - available from the shop. We also learn that a limited number of additional tickets will be available on the night, for each day from Thursday to Saturday. However, we are informed that, if the weather deteriorates and the play has to be performed under cover in the Dunn Village Hall, only those with pre-booked seats will be guaranteed a seat.

See the What's On section for details of the performances at the end of June. 206 x 157

Also gigging locally this month - The Wild Service will be at the Warbill-in-Tun Sunday 27th* June at 8.00pm. Local songwriters George and Danny Goring, and multi-instrumentalist Dan Stewart, combine harmony singing with acoustic guitar, bass, mandolin, banjo and even Appalachian dulcimer to create a highly original sound. Hear them. We previously listed a gig on the 20th but this has been canceled, with the 27th gig replacing it.

Late-afternoon shopping

A new face behind the counter in The Stores. Lauren Bysted has joined Andy's village shop team to work the afternoon shift for the new longer opening times. The Stores is now open until 6.00pm Monday-Friday during the summer months. Lauren, a qualified beautician, is continuing to develop that side of her career whilst working part-time at the village shop.

What's on? Check it out.

Our What's on section is updated all the time so its worth checking it regularly for news of events such as the Flower Show on Rushlake Green (and the evening's entertainment to follow), Heathfield Carnival, Local music gigs, Open Studios and Gardens, and anything else that we find out is happening soon. And we cover quite a wide area - anywhere really that's easy to reach from Rushlake Green.

Very last chance to see Leonardslee Gardens

Check out our 'Places to Visit' section. With your help, we hope to make it the best little guide for great places to visit in this part of East Sussex. And right now, a reminder that Leonardslee Gardens will only be open to the public until the end of June this year - that's unless the new owners have a change of heart.

Gormley's Critical Mass

We've noticed that Critical Mass, one of Antony Gormley's most significant works, is being shown on the roof top of the De La Warr Pavilion, Bexhill-on-Sea until the end of August. Sounds interesting - and if you have not yet visited the Pavillion it's pretty amazing as a classic piece of 1930s modernist architecture. Quirky restaurant too. Read more in What's on
