Prince is Top of the Hops

Playing to an audience of more than 50,000, Prince made his first ever festival appearance at our very own local Hop Farm Festival (Paddock Wood) on Sunday July 3rd. His performance was universally acclaimed as the high point of this 3-day event that also starred The Eagles, Brian Ferry, Iggy Pop, Morrisey and Larry Graham (of Sly and the Family Stone fame), along with heaps of younger talent. The aim of the Hop Farm festival, which has no corporate sponsorship, is to "bring world famous artists together with their fans by taking the music back to its basic roots". Southern Water make-over campaign.

Many people have contacted us about the unsightly appearance of 'pumping station 2', south of the village. Southern Water has been asked to come up with a plan to disguise the ugliness of the pump 'kiosk' and the rather industrial concrete plinth. If you want to add your voice to the campaign to restore that part of the village landscape please contact Mike Smythe at the Old Barn ( email This e-mail address is being protected from spambots.
