Green Shoots - January 2012

We're currently preparing our February edition so this front page is temporarily a bit spartan. But an artful and eventful February Green Shoots coming soon. . .  and if you missed something in our December edition CLICK HERE to see it again

Housing plans - public consultation

Wealden’s Strategic Sites Development Plan Document public consultation began 16th Jan and runs until 24th Feb 2012. This is another chance to have your say about the plans for housing development in Heathfield, over the next 18 years - but this time about the detail of how and where.

The Strategic Sites Development Plan Document is the second major planning policy document within our District Council's Local development Framework (LDF) and will set out in detail how the Strategic Development Areas proposed in the Core Strategy (the first major planning policy document within the LDF) should be developed. This document presents a range of options in relation to the 12 identified strategic development areas set out in the Core Strategy. (This includes an area of land North West of Heathfield). The Consultation Paper presents information and facts about the sites being considered and the possible options as to how Wealden's Strategic Sites may be developed. The Issues and Options paper will be subject to public consultation for a period of six weeks from Monday 16th January to Friday 24th February 2012. The easiest way to view the Strategic Sites Issues and Options Consultation Paper (in HTML or pdf format), and answer the accompanying questionnaire, is online at www.wealden.gov.uk, (follow the links to the 'Strategic Sites Issues and Options Consultation 2012'). Copies of the document will be on view at local libraries including Heathfield and Hailsham. There will also be exhibitions: The Council Offices, Pine Grove, Crowborough, on Saturday 4 February, from 10am-1pm.; At Diplocks Community Hall, Hailsham, on Saturday 4 February,  from 10am-1pm; At the Polegate Community Centre, 54 Windsor Way, Polegate, on Saturday 11 February, from 10am-1pm.; The  Ashdown Room, Uckfield Civic Centre on Saturday 11 February, from 10am-1pm; A further exhibition has being arranged by Hailsham Town Council at its offices in Market Street, Hailsham  on Tuesday 7 February; 11am-1pm  and 5pm-7pm.

Editors note: If you don't have time to find the relevant page on Wealden's site, here's a quick link - just CLICK HERE and then look under 'View and download the Consultation Documents'.

Try your hand at Painting

An invitation to try your hand at painting in watercolour, and view a small exhibition of watercolours of Rushlake Green and the surrounding countryside by local artist, Chris Liddiard.

On Sunday 12th February, from 12 midday until 4pm at the Dunn Village Hall, Rushlake Green, you can look at the pictures, and have a go at painting one yourself. You might even be offered a cup of coffee or a glass of wine. Chris lives and works in Rushlake Green and paints the village and the surrounding fields in soft, sketchy watercolours. He also runs watercolour workshops, and sometimes gives one-to-one lessons.
