As the day dawned brightly for the 84th Rushlake Green Flower Show, it was soon clear to the organisers that the main challenge this year was going to be………the wind! As gazebos and balloons took off in true Mary Poppins style, all hatches were securely battened down and the show was opened by the President, Mr Bodley Scott. The marquee was filled with wonderful exhibits including a record number of entries in the children’s classes. The Tug of War, Children’s Races and Dog Show were as popular as ever and this year everyone was treated to a dazzling display by the Pawsome Pupz Flyball Team. There were interesting stalls to browse and from which to purchase a variety of goods, and the Tea Tent proved as popular as ever. After a most enjoyable afternoon the prizes were awarded, the Raffle was drawn and the Auction drew the event to a close.
The marquee was full to capacity in the evening to witness the return of “The Skarlettos”. Back by popular demand this band really rocked Rushlake Green. They are THE party band and three songs into their set the audience were already on their feet, dancing the night away. If you weren’t there, you probably missed the best night of the year!
Thank you very much to everyone who supported this year’s Flower Show and Evening Entertainment. Watch this space for details of next year’s Show which will be the 85th!
