From 2.00pm to 5.00pm on the 6th October an informal Groovy Sounds Cafe will be open, playing vinyl records from 1968 as a warm-up for the evening gig. The team have been scouring, scavenging, begging and borrowing all the albums they can find from the period when the jazz, blues, soul and pop of the early sixties began to transform into the new sounds of the late sixties and early seventies.
The LPs already found include titles from Aretha Franklin, Otis Redding, The Kinks, Jeff Beck, John Mayall, The Pretty Things, The Byrds, Canned Heat, Fleetwood Mac, Pink Floyd, The Doors, Cream, Simon & Garfunkel, The Nice, Deep Purple, George Harrison, Van Morrison and of course Dave, Dee, Dozy, Mick and Tich. Everyone is welcome to bring along their fave LPs on the day and the team will do their best to playa track if its not already in the planned selection.
