A seat on the footpath beside the Dunn Village Hall has long been a welcome place for walkers, locals and visitors to take a few moments of peace and tranquility. Friday 29th July 2022 saw the official launch of the new bench, which was generously donated by Rushlake Green Village Stores; R.L-G Nursery and the Warbleton & District Horticultural & Poultry Society.
Gill Snook, Chairman of the Warbleton & District Horticultural & Poultry Society explains the story behind the new seat that was presented to the village today . . . .
” . . . . David Bysouth , a past Chairman of our society and long standing member / supporter kindly donated a wooden bench to the Parish many years ago. The bench was actually made by him, therefore it had a significant meaning. Unfortunately over the years it rotted away and was deemed unsafe and was finally removed. Sadly last year David passed away, and it was felt that the Horticultural Society should replace it. Whilst we couldn’t replicate the beautiful wooden version, we opted for the lovely metal one presented today.
After some discussion, local residents Tony Field, (Village Stores) Richard Lambert-Gorwyn (Rushlake Green Nursery) and ourselves clubbed together to purchase it.
Although it has been in situ for a few months, it was our pleasure to officially present it to the chairman of the PC, Andy Long, today. We hope the local residents will have many years of use and that it will provide a place of rest and reflection . . .
And when David died, the Society was left £100. The wishes of his family were that we purchased a new cup in his memory. This cup will be presented today at the Summer Show for the first time . . . .”

Tony from the Village Stores, Richard Lambert-Gorwyn from R.L-G Nursery; and Gill Snook, Chairman of the Warbleton Horticultural Society; joined others in celebrating the launch and the official handover to Cllr. Andrew Long, Chairman of the Parish Council.
