The great news is that the Horse & Groom will be open from 12.00pm on Saturday 30th. The pub team have been making heroic efforts to complete the work necessary to open for the Rushlake Green Summer Show. It’s very apt that as the Summer Show returns for the first time after a two year hiatus, so too does the Horse & Groom after a challenging interim.

Horse & Groom Pub Update 29/07/2022
Well here we go. As you have no doubt seen, the front of the pub has had great overhaul and we hope you approve of what has been done.
Under the apparently calm surface the serene swan is paddling like mad underneath. We still have a number of challenges to overcome, but we will be opening on Saturday 30th July and hope to provide visitors to Flower Show and the villagers a visit to remember, hopefully for the right reasons.
We will be putting on a BBQ from about 12.00 Midday and menu and price list will be displayed. The pub will be open and our Harveys and 2 guest ales have been laid down for a few days now so should be in great condition for Saturday to support the Flower Show, hopefully to provide the flower show visitors an additional experience in the village. There will be a selection of beers, soft drinks and usual bar drinks available all day. The restaurant will not be open for food just yet but our Chef will be providing the BBQ tomorrow so you will be able to meet and greet. Soph (nickname) has come from a very successful bar/restaurant/bistro in Bexhill know as the Bentleys Streakhouse and we are confident we will build an interesting and varied menu. For the immediate outlook we will keep it simple until the full refurbishments are complete. Derick Reid’s plaque has been re-instated in proud place for all to see.
There are several teething problems, and this is not the smooth opening we had hoped for, so we hope you will bear with us and enjoy what we have done so far. We will publish more information as we develop a regular routine of opening times etc. There is no web site yet, but we have retained the pub number so if you need to contact us 01435 830320 is the best way.
We are very grateful for the support and interest the village has been giving everyone involved, our team of painters, builders and gardeners and we hope we have not caused you too much inconvenience.
