Last weekend the news spread quickly that the Horse & Groom had begun serving food. As you will hear, this was a low key test run, which proved immediately popular with customers. Comments we’ve received included “had an excellent lunch in the H&G garden”. . . “just enjoyed a delicious Sunday Roast at the H&G” . . . “Great to see that food is being served at the H&G again” . . . .

Here’s the latest update from H&G team:

“So, the great news is that the Horse and Groom is open for food. We had a great weekend supported by many of the villagers, locals and some international travellers, who managed to get the nod on the fact we were serving Saturday and a great Sunday Lunch menu. We purposely did not make a grand announcement, just to make sure the operation got off to a smooth start. This next step in the journey had a new set of challenges but the team, from chef and kitchen to bar and waitresses, got a system going and the feedback we received on the day was most encouraging. We still have more to do, to refine and improve from where we are starting.

As most people will no doubt be aware we are open every day for drinks and we will be available for lunches and evening meals from Wednesday to Saturday, with a Sunday Roast Specials menu, all of which offer a variety of meat, fish, vegetarian and child-friendly options. At present we do not anticipate Sunday evening meals. Parties, meetings and functions are welcome and we will try and accommodate any special requests.

Web and media pages will hopefully be up at running soon. In the meantime the Village Leaf is being so supportive, and we will continue to provide you with information and news as it arises. We are building our bank of staff and are pleased to have had many enquiries from local residents, friends and family – so please feel free to enquire about opportunities to work with an enthusiastic team here at the Horse and Groom. Here’s a quick summary, as things stand at the moment, of our opening times:

Monday and Tuesday  – 3pm to 9pm Bar only
Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday  – Open all day lunch and evening meals
Sunday 12pm to 3pm – for Special Roast menu and bar open all day.
All of these are going to be a bit flexible, so if you have any requests give us a call.”
