The Mayfield Festival is back in 2024 and runs from 26 April to 12 May (inclusive). They sent us the following info: . . . . .
The hot tickets for this year’s festival are The London Community Gospel Choir on Saturday 4 May (which is all but sold out already) and Gin and Phonic (featuring Oz Clarke and Armonico Consort) on Wednesday 8 May (just 11 tickets remaining). Nevertheless, even if you are unable to obtain a ticket for one of those concerts there are a wealth of other superb events featuring top quality artists that you can choose from.
Coming to Mayfield during the Festival period will be one of the world’s leading interpreters of the baroque repertoire, Rachel Podger (described by The Times as “… the unsurpassed British glory of the baroque violin”), an opening night adaptation of William Shakespeare’s Macbeth that played to rave reviews at last year’s Edinburgh Fringe, the world-famous pianist Imogen Cooper and a performance of Robert Schumann’s masterful song-cycle Dichterliebe by mezzo-soprano Helen Charlston and pianist Sholto Kynoch. Furthermore, for those who prefer their musical works on a larger scale this year’s Mayfield Festival offers a chance to hear Anton Bruckner’s Mass in E Minor on the 28th of April, the complete Brandenburg Concertos over two nights on the 29th and 30th of April (featuring Piers Adams, Julia Bishop and Jack Gonzalez-Harding) and, on the closing night (the 12thof May), the joint delights of the Mayfield Festival Choir performing Puccini’s Messa di Gloria and a performance of Elgar’s Cello Concerto that features as the soloist the winner of the 2022 Tunbridge Wells International Music Competition, Edvard Pogossian.
