The task of keeping our locality clean seems to be a pretty non-stop task. In early April as part of #GBSpringClean, Martyn Green and a team of more than a dozen willing volunteers scoured the roads surrounding Rushlake Green – as far as Three Cups, Bodle Street, Chapel Cross, Chapmans Town and Foul Mile. Huge thanks to all those who took part – collecting more than a dozen sacks of rubbish and detritus, including the usual crop of car tyres and ironmongery. As expected, drinks cans, coffee cups and plastic bags were in plentiful supply.

However, this seems to be a never ending story and the littering re-started almost immediately. Fortunately, a second round of clean-up is planned. The ‘Community Spring Clean’ will involve litter picking around Rushlake Green and Bodle Street Green. Volunteers are asked to meet at Rushlake Green Village Stores at 9.30am on May 18th, or outside Bodle Street Green Village Hall at 9.30am on 25th May. Hi-Vis jackets, bags, litter-picks and gloves have been provided by WDC. And there will be coffee afterwards!
