Here’s what the folk at the WDHPS say about the 2025 Summer Show, this weekend:

“. . .  A big welcome awaits the whole community of Rushlake Green at their Summer Show 26th  July 2025. A whole Saturday afternoon of joy, a glass of Pimms in hand,  Children’s Races, smiling faces, 28 stalls of local crafts and goodies. You can stock up on Christmas and birthday presents for the whole year!

We have 1935 Cars on the Green, so that you can imagine Village life 90 years ago; the gentleman in suits and hats very dapper,  ladies in their finery with midi dresses, skirt suits below the knee, shoulder bags with matching kitten heels were all the rage at Ascot. Dresses fitted at the waist, matched to gloves of course. The daring wore slinky trouser suits and Cloche hats or straw boaters with frothy Georgette skirts, which were all the rage.

We have our Tea Tent for light refreshments, the Warbleton Brass Band will be playing and a relaxing time to be had by all.

I have attended since 1980 to mark the food exhibits after Mr Knibb collected me from Hailsham school. I wouldn’t miss this day for the world. My family and friends all arrive in the afternoon to join in the festivities and watch the dog show, the dancing, the joyous children’s races. Indeed, Yasmina aged 8, from Algiers, dragged her dad to do the three legged race and the wheelbarrow race.  Now she is a GP in Riyadh and still remembers the fun of that day. The children’s roundabouts and swings will also be present.

Please make time to come and join us on this delightful afternoon 1.00pm-4.30pm.

Apart from seeing all the local craft skills on show in The Marquee, you can join in and get your entry form from the local village shop, which is a brilliant place.

Go to our website  https://www.wdhps.co.uk/
Get your Entry Form into the shop by Wednesday please.

There are 133 classes to enter !
You may even win a silver cup!

This year we have Show Gardens from two local garden designers. They will inspire you on how you can bring a small garden or a patch of boring lawn to life with pot plants and garden furniture, creating a small haven of beauty to relax in, to sit and calm frayed nerves after a day at work or to enable you to crash out when life throws up mega stress. Plant hormones help to calm us.

Please come and join in the fun, it rejuvenates all of us to spend time together as a vibrant community.

Enjoy pictures of the past years and be in the photos of this year‘s event, a big welcome  awaits all who attend.

Please join your local horticultural society, only £5.00, to learn how to get the best from your plants be they flowers or vegetables. We all need to learn how to grow some of our own food, be it herbs, tomatoes or runner beans. Nothing tastes better than home grown fresh foods packed with nutrients.

And then of course there is the Evening Entertainment in the marquee from 7:30pm. Bring your own picnic, drink and glasses and be entertained by the fabulous Taylor Made band. Tickets £10 adults & £5 for the under 16’s, available from the Rushlake Green Village Stores . . . ”
